MELBOURNE VOLLEYBALL PROJECT
MVP Participation Terms
These terms apply to all Melbourne Volleyball Project training programs, clinics, masterclasses, socials, tryouts, tournaments, events and other MVP activities.
Last updated: 5 July 2026
Important Notice
Participation in MVP activities involves physical activity and injury risk. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any rights a participant may have under Australian Consumer Law.
Participation and Registration+
Participants must provide accurate registration information before attending an MVP activity. This may include the participant’s name, date of birth, contact details, emergency contact details, medical information, injury history, volleyball experience and any other information reasonably requested by MVP.
Participants must attend the correct session, age group, level or program they have registered for. MVP may move a participant to a more suitable group or refuse participation where reasonably necessary for safety, fairness, session quality or court management.
MVP may refuse, cancel or suspend participation if required information is missing, inaccurate or incomplete.
Parent or Guardian Consent for Under 18 Participants+
If the participant is under 18, a parent or legal guardian must complete the registration and provide consent for the participant to attend.
The parent or guardian confirms that:
- they have authority to provide consent for the participant
- the participant is physically able to take part
- all relevant medical, injury and emergency contact information has been provided
- they understand that volleyball involves physical risk
- MVP may contact them about bookings, session updates, cancellations, safety matters and emergency situations
Participants aged 18 or over may complete their own registration and provide their own consent.
Physical Activity and Injury Risk+
Volleyball is a physical sport and involves risk of injury. These risks may include falls, collisions, contact with the ball, contact with other players, slips, trips, sprains, strains, finger injuries, ankle injuries, knee injuries, shoulder injuries, head impacts, overuse injuries and other physical harm.
Participants must:
- follow all coach, organiser and venue instructions
- wear suitable sporting clothing and footwear
- warm up appropriately
- use equipment safely
- stop participating if injured, unwell, dizzy or unable to continue safely
- tell an MVP coach or organiser about any injury, illness or safety concern as soon as possible
MVP may remove a participant from an activity if MVP reasonably considers that continued participation may be unsafe for the participant or others.
Medical Information and Emergency Assistance+
Participants, or their parent/guardian if under 18, must disclose any relevant medical conditions, injuries, allergies, medications or physical limitations that may affect participation.
In the event of injury, illness or emergency, MVP may contact the listed emergency contact and seek medical assistance where reasonably necessary.
The participant, or their parent/guardian if under 18, is responsible for any medical, ambulance or treatment costs unless otherwise required by law.
MVP does not provide medical advice. Participants should seek medical clearance before attending if they are unsure whether they can safely participate.
Conduct and Behaviour+
Participants must behave respectfully towards coaches, organisers, volunteers, venue staff, other participants and spectators.
MVP may remove a participant from a session or refuse future attendance for behaviour including:
- dangerous or reckless play
- aggressive, abusive or threatening behaviour
- harassment, bullying or discrimination
- repeated failure to follow instructions
- damaging venue property or equipment
- disrupting the session
- behaviour that affects the safety or enjoyment of others
Where a participant is removed due to misconduct, no refund or credit will be provided except where required by law.
Social Sessions+
MVP social sessions are recreational volleyball sessions designed for organised match play, social participation and community engagement.
Participants acknowledge that:
- team allocation may vary depending on attendance and player numbers
- skill levels may vary between players and teams
- MVP may adjust teams, rotations or court allocations during the session
- MVP may ask players to move courts or groups for safety, fairness or session balance
- social sessions are not guaranteed to provide equal court time, equal match results or a specific team structure
Participants must play safely, respect others and follow MVP instructions during social sessions.
Training Programs, Clinics and Events+
MVP training programs, clinics, masterclasses and events may involve coaching, drills, game play, feedback and structured development.
Participants acknowledge that:
- session content may vary depending on coach judgement, court availability, player numbers and group needs
- improvement is not guaranteed
- MVP may adjust groups, drills or session structure where reasonably necessary
- coaches may provide general technical feedback but do not provide medical, physiotherapy or rehabilitation advice
Session Changes, Cancellations and Availability+
MVP may adjust session structure, coaches, court numbers, venue space, dates, times or session content where reasonably necessary.
This may occur due to court availability, venue requirements, coach availability, participant numbers, safety concerns, illness, emergencies, tournaments, venue closures or circumstances outside MVP’s control.
MVP will make reasonable efforts to notify participants of material changes.
Refunds, Credits and Cancellations+
Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies any rights a participant may have under Australian Consumer Law.
Training Programs
Payments for MVP training programs are non-refundable for change of mind, missed sessions, withdrawal, injury, illness, personal scheduling conflicts or non-attendance, except where required by law.
Full payment is required at registration unless MVP has approved a payment plan in writing.
If a payment plan has been approved, the participant remains responsible for completing all scheduled payments unless MVP agrees otherwise in writing or unless required by law.
Clinics, Masterclasses and Other Training Sessions
Refunds are not available within 24 hours of the scheduled session start time, except where required by law.
If a cancellation request is made more than 24 hours before the scheduled session start time, MVP may provide store credit only.
Cash refunds are not provided for change of mind unless required by law.
Social Sessions
Social session payments are non-refundable for change of mind, late arrival, non-attendance or personal scheduling conflicts, except where required by law.
MVP may consider a cancellation request in extraordinary circumstances where more than 24 hours’ notice is provided.
If MVP approves the request, store credit only may be provided.
Cash refunds are not provided for change of mind unless required by law.
MVP Cancellations
If MVP cancels a session and does not provide a reasonable alternative, MVP will provide a remedy as required by Australian Consumer Law. This may include rescheduling, store credit or a refund depending on the circumstances.
Store Credit+
Where store credit is granted, it may only be used for eligible MVP sessions, programs or events.
Store credit cannot be exchanged for cash unless required by law.
Store credit may be subject to booking availability, expiry dates and any conditions stated at the time the credit is issued.
Payment Plans+
Where MVP agrees to a payment plan, the participant must make each payment by the due date.
If a payment is missed, MVP may suspend participation until the overdue amount is paid.
Failure to attend, withdrawal or non-participation does not automatically cancel the remaining payment obligations unless MVP agrees otherwise in writing or unless required by law.
Photography and Video+
Photos and videos may be taken during MVP activities for coaching, event documentation, social media and promotional purposes.
Due to the nature of volleyball sessions, participants may appear incidentally in the background of photos or videos, especially during social sessions, wide-court footage or group activities.
MVP will make reasonable efforts not to clearly feature a participant in promotional content if the participant, or their parent/guardian if under 18, has advised MVP that they do not consent to being clearly featured.
Photo and video consent to be clearly featured is separate from general participation consent.
MVP cannot fully control photos or videos taken by other participants, spectators or third parties.
Communication and Marketing+
MVP may contact participants, or their parent/guardian if under 18, about booking confirmations, session updates, cancellations, safety matters, emergency issues and other important information related to participation.
This is separate from marketing consent.
Participants may choose whether to receive MVP updates about future clinics, training programs, socials and events. Marketing emails or messages will include sender information and an unsubscribe option where required.
Personal Information and Privacy+
MVP collects personal information for registration, booking, safety, emergency contact, session management, communication, record keeping and insurance-related purposes.
MVP may share relevant information with coaches, organisers, contractors, venue staff, medical personnel, emergency services, insurers or legal advisers where reasonably necessary.
MVP will take reasonable steps to handle personal information securely.
Personal Belongings+
Participants are responsible for their own belongings.
MVP is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged personal items unless the loss or damage is caused by MVP’s negligence or as otherwise required by law.
Venue Rules and Property+
Participants must follow venue rules and directions from venue staff.
Participants may be responsible for damage they cause to MVP equipment, venue equipment or venue property through misuse, negligence, reckless behaviour or intentional conduct.
If the participant is under 18, the parent or guardian may be responsible for damage caused by the participant where permitted by law.
Insurance+
MVP may hold insurance relevant to its activities. However, participation in MVP activities does not guarantee that a participant is covered for personal accident, medical expenses, ambulance costs, loss of income or other personal losses.
Participants should consider whether they require their own private health, ambulance, income protection or personal accident insurance.
Liability+
To the maximum extent permitted by law, participants attend and participate in MVP activities at their own risk.
MVP is not liable for injury, loss, damage, cost or expense arising from participation except to the extent caused by MVP’s breach of law, negligence or failure to meet obligations that cannot be excluded.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right, guarantee or remedy that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law.
Victorian Recreational Services Warning+
If MVP wishes to limit liability for death or personal injury in Victoria, MVP should obtain legal advice and use the prescribed recreational services wording before the customer agrees to purchase or participate. Consumer Affairs Victoria states that recreational businesses must notify consumers before they agree to buy the services and businesses using the limitation for the first time must use the exact required wording.
This section should be reviewed by a solicitor before publication.
Changes to These Terms+
MVP may update these Participation Terms from time to time.
The version that applies is the version available at the time the participant registers, purchases or attends the relevant MVP activity, unless otherwise required by law.
Agreement+
By registering for, purchasing or attending an MVP activity, the participant confirms that they have read, understood and agreed to these Participation Terms.
If the participant is under 18, the parent or legal guardian confirms that they have read, understood and agreed to these Participation Terms on behalf of the participant.
